Douglas Weal was a prosecution witness in the trial of Alan Gordon Thomas, who was charged with conspiring to blow up an ACC Office in Auckland. This incident is referred to as the Takapuna Bomb Plot.

It has been alleged that Douglas Weal gave false testimony at this trial and that there will be a private civil action brought against Weal for perjury in the not too distant future.
